CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say a good Samaritan is in the hospital after he was shot while attempting to stop a robbery in Charlotte.

WSOC reports Juan Sanchez, 39, noticed the robbery taking place from the front door of his apartment on Marlbrook Drive.  His girlfriend, Anita Nunez, says Sanchez ran after the suspect, but lost track of him.

Afterward, Nunez says Sanchez got into his car to drive to work.  She says she was on the phone with Sanchez when the suspect approached his vehicle and shot him through the driver’s-side window, WSOC reports.

It wasn’t clear how many times Sanchez was shot, but a witness said she heard three gunshots.  Sanchez’s exact condition as of Tuesday morning was not available, but WSOC reports he is “barely able to speak.”

Now, Nunez is pleading for the unidentified suspect to turn himself in.
