Report: UNC football player received cash from sports agent
RALEIGH, N.C. — The N.C. Secretary of State’s office is investigating allegations that UNC Chapel Hill football player Marvin Austin received $2,000 from a Georgia sports agent.
WNCN reports documents were released Monday detail how the agent, Terry Shawn Watson, pursued Austin and at least four other UNC players.
Watson is accused of violating state law “by giving impermissible gifts to UNC-Chapel Hill student-athletes with the intent to coerce them into entering into a representation contract with him,” according to WNCN.
Citing the documents, WNCN reports players Charles Brown, Kendrick Burney, Michael McAdoo, Greg Little and Marvin Austin all admitted Watson contacted them or met them.
