HIGH POINT — A High Point University student that died in an ATV accident over the weekend was remembered on Monday.
Tyler Bowman, a freshman from Cherokee, died Saturday in an accident near his home, according to an email message from university President Nido R. Qubein sent Sunday to the campus community.
“Tyler was an extraordinary student and compassionate friend. As we talk to many who knew Tyler, it’s clear he was planting seeds of greatness at every turn. Please keep Tyler’s family in your thoughts and prayers and know that the university has extended our resources to support the Bowman family during this difficult time,” Qubein’s message stated.
Bowman was on spring break and was near his home in Swain County. Those who knew Bowman said he was a special person who loved his family.
HPU officials said they will be planning a service to honor Tyler sometime in the next few days. The school counseling center is also open to students who need support.
