Additional funds will keep buses rolling in Davidson County
DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C.–The Davidson County Transportation System has been gaining some serious ground across the county.
In Thomasville, more than 600 passengers a week ride the bus and with strong demand, 20 more routes have been added. Luckily, passengers can ride the bus for free thanks to federal and state grant money.
While funds have been secured, Transportation Manager Steve Swaim wants to make sure all future cost are covered, so he want so cover the buses with ads.
“One sponsorship, if it’s a five-year contract, can bring in 30,000 dollars, that’s not a lot of money, it will help out considerably,” Swaim said.
Davidson County Community College will sponsor the bus that connects Lexington and Thomasville. Sponsors are still being sought for the buses that run in Lexington and Thomasville.
