GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- Authorities said that sweepstakes businesses in Guilford County will have to shut down for good by March 15.

A statewide law banning sweepstakes machines in North Carolina went into effect in January.

Although many are still open, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said they are starting to enforce the ban.

They said letters have been sent to business owners in the county, saying they will be ticketed and the machines will be confiscated if operating after the 15th.
