This might be the craziest buzzer-beater ever.
Ninth-seeded New Rochelle (N.Y.) was facing third-seeded Mount Vernon (N.Y.) in the Section 1 Class AA final on Sunday.
Trailing 60-58 with less than 3 seconds left, New Rochelle’s Khalil Edney inbounded the ball while standing under his own basket and it was picked off by a player from Mount Vernon, who then threw the ball into the air.
New Rochelle’s Khalil Edney then grabbed the ball in mid-air and threw it 60-feet at the basket as time expired. It went in.
The shot was initially waived off, but after the officials talked, the basket counted. New Rochelle won 61-60.
