GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police said they are investigating after a body was found in a lake off Plainfield Road in Greensboro on Sunday.
Authorities said the call came in at 2:10 p.m. from a fisherman. They said the body was found on the north shore of the western end of the lake.
The identity of the victim has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
Police said the body was still in the lake as of 5:30 p.m. Sunday. They said they are collecting samples around the body before removing it.
Police said they have classified the incident as a suspicious death and are treating the case the same way they would a homicide. They said there are no reports of missing people in the area.
Authorities said the body will be sent to the medical examiner’s office in Raleigh to be identified and determine how long it has been in the lake.
