REIDSVILLE, N.C.–Rockingham Community College is strengthening community ties, by taking its woodworking center off campus and placing it in a renovated building in downtown Reidsville.
The Center for Creative Woodworking will train hobbyists, as well as professionals that want to build cabinets, moldings and other fittings.
Reidsville is hoping to reap the benefits as well, as students attending the new center will spend their money at nearby businesses.
Preparing students for the corporate world is important to Rockingham Community College, but college president Michael Helmick adds that the college can’t forget to develop future small business owners that want to own their own businesses.
“If these folks come out of our program and set up their own studio, that could be a huge boost to economic development in this county.”
