Pump station vandalized in Rockingham County

WENTWORTH, N.C. — Deputies say a pump station was vandalized Monday morning in Rockingham County.

According to the sheriff’s office, an employee with the county’s Environment and Public Utilities department reported around 10:15 a.m. that the pump station on Bear Branch Trail in Wentworth had been broken into and vandalized.

Deputies say the culprit or culprits pulled the fence surrounding the station away from its post to gain entrance.

The vandalism is believed to have occurred sometime between 8 a.m. Friday and 10:15 a.m. Monday, deputies said.

No other details were provided.
