Police: Man admits to stealing $58K Camaro from NC dealership

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A South Carolina was was arrested after deputies said he admitted to stealing a Camero worth $58,000 from inside the Randy Marion Car dealership in Mooresville last month.

WCNC.com reported that Vernon Edward Gardner, 45, of Lexington, allegedly broke in through a door and drove off with a the 2013 red car from inside the dealership around 11 p.m.

Police said Gardner admitted to stealing eight vehicles across North Carolina valued at $600,000 total.

The suspect was charged with one count of breaking and entering and one count of larceny related to the Mooresville incident. He was place in the Lexington County Detention Center under a $375,000 bond.
