DJ wears diapers at Winston-Salem intersection after losing Super Bowl bet
Jared Pike, a disk jockey at WKZL FM 107.5, lost a Super Bowl bet with a fellow jockey and had to spend 30 minutes at the Five Points intersection in Winston-Salem wearing a diaper and holding a sign saying "I Bet Against the Ravens and Lost," on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013. WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — WKZL on-air radio personality Jared Pike stood by a busy intersection wearing diapers Monday morning in Winston-Salem, after losing a bet that the 49ers would win the Super Bowl.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that Pike surprised drivers at Five Points with one diaper on his head and another where it was supposed to be.
Pike is half of the Jared & Katie morning show at WKZL, an FM station at 107.5. He and Hugs O’Houlihan, also on the show, made bets on the game and Pike lost.
Pike said he thought the 49ers would win for sure.
“We have had people pull over… or roll by in disgust, not sure what’s going on or what they just saw,” Pike said. “We get a lot of honking horns. But a lot of people are just having fun, seeing a guy lose a bet and look pathetic.”
It was close: The San Francisco 49s missed a chance to tie the championship game in the fourth quarter and failed to get in the end zone and win a come-from behind victory with 1 minute and 50 seconds left on the clock.
