Police: Student brings gun to Virginia elementary school

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – Police are investigating after officials said a student brought a handgun to an elementary school Monday morning in Henrico County, Va.

WTVR reported that officials received a tip about the incident at Ratcliffe Elementary School in Richmond around 8:40 a.m.

Henrico police spokeswoman Lt. Linda Toney said the gun was never used in a threatening manner.

Parents told WTVR that the student was stopped by school workers as the child got off the bus.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
