HOUSTON — Six astronauts aboard the International Space Station may not have beer, chicken wings or even gravity — but still plan to watch the Super Bowl.
Space.com reported that NASA’s Mission Control at the Johnson Space Center in Houston will beam the Super Bowl XLVII showdown live to the International Space Station.
“Yes they are going to watch it this weekend,” NASA spokesman Josh Byerly told Space.com in an email. “And they said they definitely wanted to see it.”
Statesville native Dr. Tom Marshburn is among the crew.
It remains uncertain whether the astronauts plan to throw a traditional Super Bowl party.
The San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens face off at 6:30 p.m.
