NC man charged with murdering father
ETOWAH, N.C. — A Henderson County man is reportedly charged with murder in the death of his father.
According to WLOS, 44-year-old Michael Walker of Etowah was arrested Sunday night after he called 911 to report his father, 71-year-old Jerry Walker, had died from a heart attack.
Deputies and EMS responded around 9:45 p.m. to a home on Sagebrush Circle, where they found Jerry Walker on the living room floor, WLOS reports.
The suspect allegedly told investigators he had physical confrontation with his father about ten minutes before the incident. However, investigators said there were inconsistencies in his story, the station reports.
Deputies tell WLOS there was a “very, very strong odor of bleach” when they arrived. They believe the bleach was used to clean up blood, however some evidence of blood was still found at the scene.
Investigators are waiting autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death.
Michael Walker is being held in the Henderson County detention Center without bond.
