Two Jonesville residents charged after starving animals to death

JONESVILLE, N.C. —Two Jonesville residents were arrested and charged with killing animals by starvation after multiple animals were found dead or emaciated at their home.
Rose Anna Hagler and Zealous Bernard Hagler were arrested after an anonymous caller contacted the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office after observing two dead dogs in a kennel behind a residence. The Yadkin County Animal Control also discovered other dead, emaciated animals at the residence.
Rose Hagler was charged with four counts of felony killing an animal by starvation and was held under a $20,000 secured bond.
Zealous Hagler was charged with three counts of felony killing an animal by starvation and was held under a $50,000 unsecured bond.
