CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Several units were destroyed Monday morning in a fire at the University Gardens apartment complex in Chapel Hill.

According to WRAL, the blaze was reported shortly after 10 a.m. at 800 Pritchard Ave.

Officials are not yet sure about what caused the fire.  It reportedly started in the attic of one apartment before spreading to others.

WRAL reports six units were destroyed and three were damaged.

No injuries were reported.

Officials tell WRAL the building was inspected last week.  All smoke detectors in the build were functioning, but there was a note that indicated some residents needed fire extinguishers.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the units affected by the blaze were equipped with extinguishers.
