Sex offender charged with indecent exposure in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. – A registered sex offender was arrested Monday after police said he exposed himself to a woman at a park in Burlington.

Jason Garant Perkins, 43, of Burlington, was charged in the incident which police said occurred at Joe Davidson Park around 2:30 p.m. Jan. 7.

Police said the victim was visiting the park with her family when the suspect got out of a Toyota parked nearby and started masturbating.

Police said the suspect was arrested after the victim got a detailed description of him and his car’s license plate.

Authorities said Perkins was charged with one count each of felony indecent exposure and being a sex offender unlawfully on a premise.

Officials said Perkins was placed in the Alamance County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond.

Perkins was convicted of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor in 2008 in Wake County, according to the North Carolina Offender Registry.
