GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia woman was arrested after she allegedly threatened to blow up the police department.

Amanda Barnes, 37, is charged with felony attempting malicious damage to government building by explosives.

According to WSOC, Barnes had a gas can and a lighter on Sunday morning when she was arrested in the lobby of the Gaston County Police Department.

About an hour before she was arrested, Barnes was seen walking around the department’s parking lot, the station reports.

The suspect allegedly told an officer she “wanted to kill them because she was a veteran,” WSOC reports.

WCNC reports Barnes is being held in the Gaston County jail under a $500,000 secured bond.
