Student found with gun at Glenn High School
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are investigating after a student was found with a gun this morning at Glenn High School.
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools spokesman Theo Helm says school officials were told by a parent early Friday morning that a student was going to bring a gun to Glenn High School.
The student was stopped inside a school building as he arrived at the school, Helm said. The firearm in question was never taken out or displayed, he added.
Upon searching they found one student, 17-year-old DaCian Rhymer with a knife, he is facing charges of having a weapon on school grounds. They found a gun in the possession of juvenile who is charged with felony possession of a firearm on school property.
According to police parents told the school there may be an after school fight and that some students may have weapons.
A reverse 911 call was sent to parents, Helm said.
The juvenile is in custody in Forsyth Juvenile Detention, Rhymer was in the Forsyth Co. Jail at last check.
