CLEVELAND, Ohio — An exotic dancer who fell from a second-floor balcony while giving a customer a lap dance at an Ohio strip club has died.

WJW reports 22-year-old Lauren Block had been listed in critical condition since the accident, which occurred on Jan. 2 at a Christie’s Cabaret in Cleveland.

The Richmond Heights woman was “attempting some sort of dance move when she went head-first over the rail, falling 15 feet to the floor,” officials told WJW.

Initial 911 calls prompted investigators to look into the possibility that Block was pushed from the balcony, but it was ruled an accident.

Block’s family released the following statement to WJW:

“We would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support and prayers for Lauren.  She has passed away but is an organ donor, and we hope this will enable her to save many lives and live on through others.  We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at MetroHealth. They worked tirelessly to do all they could to save her life.  We ask that the media respect our privacy during this difficult time.  We know that she’s in God’s hands.”

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is looking into the incident, attempting to determine if they have jurisdiction to investigate further, according to WJW.
