Britney Spears quits X Factor, avoids being fired

Britney Spears is quitting X Factor after just one season.

Sources confirm to TVGuide.com Spears quit the singing competition because she knew she wouldn’t be asked back for a second season.

The news comes only two weeks after reports surfaced Spears would likely be fired after producers felt she didn’t meet the expectations that came along with her $15 million contract.

Spears’ replacement is expected to be announce “soon,” according to the report.

L.A. Reid is also leaving the popular Fox show.
