Katie Nordeen named new evening anchor at FOX8, will start Jan. 10
Katie Nordeen is the new FOX8 News weekday 5pm, 6pm and 10pm anchor, it was announced today by Karen Adams, President and General Manager of WGHP/FOX8.
Her first day will be Jan. 10.
Katie joined the FOX8 team in 2010 as a reporter and was promoted to the FOX8 Morning News in September 2011 as an anchor when the newscast expanded.
“Katie is that consummate journalist and communicator who works very hard to excel in all her roles,” said Karen Koutsky, Vice President of News.
“The research and feedback on her showed she’s very well-liked in the Piedmont and that she was the viewer’s choice for a new anchor. She’s smart, well-spoken, and brings a lot of energy, warmth and charisma to the newscast.”
Katie Nordeen has a love and passion for kids with special needs. She is serving a three-year term on the board of directors for Special Olympics North Carolina. She also volunteers at The Children’s Center in Winston-Salem, a school where most of the children have physical and/or cognitive disabilities.
Katie came to FOX8 from Duluth, Minnesota where she worked as an anchor and reporter. During her time there, Katie was awarded a Regional Broadcast Emmy for her work as the weekend anchor. She also spent time in Boulder, Colo. where she studied Broadcast Journalism at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
“Katie and Neill McNeill make a great team. They both care deeply about quality journalism and our community,” says Karen Adams, President of WGHP.
Katie will join Neill McNeill for the 5pm, 6pm and 10pm newscast. She will begin her new role on Thursday, January 10th.
