DAVIDSON, COUNTY, N.C. — A wrongful death lawsuit against the man accused of throwing a paving stone and killing a Davidson County teenager has been settled.
Officials said Shelby Chisom died after Michael John Craver threw a paving stone through the window of the car she was riding on Aug. 6, 2010. She was reportedly leaving a high school graduation party at the time.
Craver plead guilty to second degree murder and is serving 12 to 15 years in prison.
A month after that plea the victim’s mother Lisa Hill Chisom filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Craver and several of the people who attended the party accusing them of negligence.
She also sued the mother and son who threw the party accusing them of allowing underage drinking.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that Chisom had reached settlements with all but Craver and the people who threw the party by last summer.
Attorneys announced Monday confidential settlements were reached with the remaining defendants four or five months ago.
