Rand Paul’s teenage son arrested
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former presidential candidate Ron Paul’s grandson was arrested Saturday night at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
WBTV reported that William Hilton Paul, 19, of Bowling Green, Ky., was charged with disorderly conduct and being intoxicated and disruptive.
Deputies said that William Paul identified himself as the son of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky. Senator Paul’s father is former Presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Authorities said it remains uncertain where William Paul got the alcohol and whether or not anyone at the airport served it to him.
William Paul reportedly has court planned for Jan. 8.
Moira Bagley, communications director for Senator Paul, released the following statement on Sunday afternoon, according to WCNC.
“Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena, however, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this.”
