Graham student says he was threatened via Facebook
GRAHAM, NC — A Graham High School student says fellow high school students have been bullying him online for weeks, including threats of violence and death threats.
15-year-old Troy Knighten said the other students are after him because they think he’s a “snitch.”
His father Buck Knighten kept track of the threats by taking screen shots from Facebook and printing them out.
A conversation between the accused bullies reads “Do you want his head? It don’t matter. Yeah, [unprintable] one of y’all pick and eat that [unprintable]. If I fight him I’m going to kill him.”
Troy believes the threats.
“If I did go back to school, like I said, theres no doubt in my mind it would happen,” Troy Knighten said.
The student resource officer is employed by the Graham Police Department.
Capt. Steve McGilvray said the SRO and the school district have seen the evidence and do not believe any charges or arrests are necessary.
The SRO and administrators have planned an anti-bullying intervention for later this month.
“I think it’s unfair to say that this intervention is almost worthless or pointless because we’ve passed bullying and into hardened criminal life, if you will. I don’t think that’s the case here,” Capt. McGilvray said.
Buck Knighten said he is not sending his son back to school until this issue is resolved.
