War Eagles eager to play in Sam Moir Classic
MOCKSVILLE, N.C. — It was a routine play for Davie County’s Caleb Martin in a first-round game of the Sam Moir Christmas Classic last season.
Martin was running the lane in transition during the first quarter when a West Rowan defender moved in front of him. Martin stepped on the back of his foot and quickly hit the floor.
The diagnosis was a broken foot, which sidelined him for 14 games.
Davie (9-1) will enter this year’s Sam Moir Christmas Classic at Catawba College in Salisbury as the No. 1 seed. The War Eagles drew a first-round bye and will play in the semifinals on Friday night.
