NEWTOWN, Conn. — The family of Adam Lanza said an imposter is behind some recent Facebook posts that claimed to be Ryan Lanza, the Connecticut shooter’s brother, claiming he was a victim.

The New York Post originally reported that Ryan Lanza told them through a Facebook chat that he misses his mother and brother.

“I am a victim,” A poster claiming to be 24-year-old Ryan Lanza wrote. “I loss [sic] my mom and brother.”

The poster posted a photo of Adam Lanza to Facebook with the message:

Adam Peter Lanza
April 22, 1992- Dec. 14, 2012(20 years old)
“I will miss you bro. I will always love you as long as I live”

Ryan Lanza, a 24-year-old Hoboken, N.J. resident, was initially misidentified by several media organizations as a suspect of the shootings. He was released after being questioned by police.

Adam Lanza fatally shot their mother, Nancy, in her bed as she slept. After killing her, he went to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. and opened fire, killing 26 people: 20 children and 6 adults.

The last three victims were laid to rest Saturday.
