Winter weather hits the Foothills
FANCY GAP, V.A. – Residents in the North Carolina Foothills and Southwest Virginia are under a Winter Weather Advisory and High Wind Advisory until 6pm Saturday.
Friday evening wind gust of 28 mph were records with a wind chill of 17 degrees around 8pm.
In the Carroll County, Virginia community of Fancy Gap residents spent Friday prepairing for the weather.
“Always watch for it turning to ice up in here with the winds that we have,” said Kenneth Parnell who lives along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
With the high winds residents like Parnell have to prepare for power outages.
“Always have candles cause the power goes out a bit because of the high winds.”
