Anchorman 2 gets Dec. 2013 release date

Paramount Pictures has officially set a release date for its sequel to “Anchorman.”

The follow-up to the 2004 comedy will arrive in theaters on Dec. 20, 2013.

Will Ferrell will return as news anchor Ron Burgundy. Paul Rudd, David Koechner, Steve Carell and Christina Applegate will also be back.

Adam McKay co-wrote the sequel’s screenplay and will also direct. He announced the release date on Twitter.
