Charlotte woman says officer shot her dogs
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — A Charlotte woman says a police officer shot and killed one of her pit bulldogs and wounded another.
The Charlotte Observer reports 27-year-old Janneth Sanchez said she called police Sunday night after she was unable to get into her house.
Sanchez says she was able to get into the house when the officer arrived and her two pit bulls ran outside.
She says the officer ordered her to restrain the dogs but he fired before she could do so.
Sanchez said neither dog had been barking, growling or acting viciously.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police spokesman Keith Trietley would not talk about the case other than to say the internal affairs department is investigating because the officer fired his weapon.
