ASHEBORO, N.C. — Police say no charges will be filed after a vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian over the weekend in Asheboro.

According to police, Timothy Albert Morris, 47, was killed as a result of the crash, which was reported around 7:30 p.m. Friday on North Fayetteville Street south of Woodcrest Road.

Police say Morris was on foot when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 92-year-old man.

Investigators decided not to pursue charges against the driver on Monday following a discussion with the Randolph County District Attorney’s Office, police said.

Speed and alcohol were not factors on the driver’s part, however police said toxicology results for Morris are pending.

No other details were provided.
