GRAHAM, N.C. (AP) — A Winston-Salem man has pleaded guilty to robbing a bank, buying a car with the stolen money and giving the rest away after telling friends he’d won the lottery.

The Times-News of Burlington reports 48-year-old Bradley Leak pleaded to a lesser charge of common law robbery and admitted to being a habitual felon. The judge gave him a maximum of 115 months in prison with 173 days’ credit for time in jail, and also recommended a mental health evaluation.

Alamance County Assistant District Attorney Gene Morris said Wednesday that Leak robbed a bank in Graham on June 21 and got away with more than $7,500. Morris said Leak then bought a car, drove to Forsyth County and gave away the money.

Leak was arrested as he entered a cafeteria.
