GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — School officials say Greensboro College is in no danger of closing although its accrediting association has placed it on financial probation again.

The News & Record of Greensboro reports that college spokesman Lex Alexander said the school has sold surplus real estate, cut costs by outsourcing maintenance and food services, and increased enrollment as moves to fix the problem.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools’ Commission on Colleges said in a statement Tuesday that Greensboro College has failed to comply with standards for reporting student learning outcomes and for demonstrating recent financial stability.

The college was placed on financial accreditation probation last December as a result of financial issues in 2009.
