Loaded gun found on High Point Central Campus
GREENSBORO, N.C. — A loaded gun was found on the High Point Central Campus on Friday afternoon, after a teacher was tipped off by a student.
The school’s resource officer arrested Anthony Rashad Lynch who brought the gun to school.
Along with felony criminal charges, the Lynch will also face a penalty from the school which may result in a year suspension.
“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” said Principal Bob Christina, High Point Central.
“We are deeply grateful that another High Point Central student did the right thing and told a teacher about the gun. As a result, no one was threatened, and no one was hurt.”
Christina also sent a recorded phone message to High Point Central parents this afternoon to inform them of the situation, and to reinforce the importance of students sharing safety-related concerns with trusted adults.
School safety concerns also may be reported anonymously to Campus Crime Stoppers at 889-4000.
Students across Guilford County can also text tips to 274637 (CRIMES).
