YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office has completed its investigation into the death of a 3-month old Yadkin County infant who died last month after being bit by a dog.

According to the Yadkin Ripple, deputies determined the infant’s mother, Sarah Jennings, was working for her mother’s business Deep Creek Kennel, located at 1221 Deep Creek Lane in Yadkinville.

Jennings and the infant were located in the office of the kennel, which is separated from the kennel area by a door.

According to the report, around 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 9, a customer came entered the kennel with a pet. Jennings took the dog and its owner through a doorway into the kennel area to place the animal into one of the kennels. The door was closed behind them but did not latch.

At that time a rottweiler that belonged to Robin Jennings, the infant’s grandmother, pushed against the unlatched door and entered the office where the child was located, according to the report.

Robin Jennings and Sarah Jennings went into the office and found the rottweiler standing beside the child and discovered the child had been bitten.

The mother then transported the child to the Yadkin Valley Community Hospital for treatment.

The child later died.
