Man accused of sexually assaulting child in Statesville

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Statesville police have arrested a man who is suspected of sexually assaulting a young child. 

According to police, Antonio Lopez Hernandez, 30, was arrested Monday afternoon following an investigation. 

The alleged assault was reported earlier the same day. 

The suspect is charged with two counts of first-degree sex offense and one count of indecent liberties with a child. 

He is being held in the Iredell County Jail under a $300,000 secured bond.
