GREENSBORO, N.C. --The performing arts task force presented its plan to the Greensboro City Council on Tuesday.

The task force wants to build a new performing arts center on the land near Center City Park, but can not do so without increasing taxes.

The force behind the theater says the new center will bring in new business and shows to the area.

Greensboro City Council voted Tuesday night 7-2 to put a referendum to add this issue to the ballot in November 2013.

They plan further discussion at their next meeting and a public hearing on Jan. 15.
