BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police say a video game retailer was robbed at gunpoint late Monday evening in Burlington.
According to police, officers responded around 9:15 p.m. Monday to the GameStop at 1449-A University Drive.
Two employees who were inside the store told police the suspect walked in around the time they were closing. They said the suspect pulled out a handgun and forced them into a back office before demanding money.
While the employees were being held at gunpoint, police say two customers walked inside. The suspect “immediately confronted” the customers and also forced them into the back office, police said.
After ordering everyone to the back of the store, police say the suspect robbed the victims of “various items.” The suspect then forced the victims into a storage room and fled in an unknown direction.
Police said the suspect made off with two Xbox 360s, two Playstation 3s, three wallets, three cellphones, and an undetermined amount of cash.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s or 30s standing between 5’7″ and 5’8″ tall. Police say he has a thin build and “patchy” facial hair.
He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, red baseball cap and blue jeans at the time of the robbery.
