Pinehurst motorcyclist killed in Asheboro wreck
ASHEBORO, N.C. — A motorcyclist was reportedly killed Sunday afternoon after he crashed into a sign in Asheboro.
The Asheboro Courier-Tribune reported John William Yates, 59, of Pinehurst, died after the wreck, which occurred around 1:06 p.m. near the BP at the intersection of N.C. 42 and N.C. 13.
The paper reports Yates was riding motorcycles with about a dozen friends. Authorities said the accident happened as he went around a curve.
Randolph EMS took Yates to Randolph Hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
