Police investigate shooting death at NC church

HENDERSON, N.C.. (AP) — Henderson police are investigating the shooting death of a man whose body was found at a local church on Thanksgiving night.

Lt. Alan Hedgepeth said 28-year-old Barry Wilkerson was found dead at the United Prayer of Faith Holiness Church shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday. There were no activities at the church at the time of the shooting.

Wilkerson was pronounced dead at the scene. He had a gunshot wound, but police released no additional details, such as what may have happened prior to Wilkerson’s death.
