NC-born Army soldier killed in Afghanistan
RALEIGH, N.C. — Military officials say an Army soldier from North Carolina has died in Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense announced Friday that 25-year-old Staff Sgt. Rayvon Battle Jr. of Rocky Mount died Nov. 13, in Kandahar province.
Battle was assigned to the 38th Engineer Company, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.
