Deputies searching for Rockingham Co. home invasion suspect

WENTWORTH, N.C. — Deputies said they are looking for a man who broke into an elderly man’s home and ran off as soon as the victim saw him Thursday morning in Wentworth.

Authorities said the suspect forced his way into a residence in the 1300 block of Grooms Road around 10 a.m.

Officials said they 73-year-old victim heard the suspect and got up, thinking it was his wife.

Deputies said the suspect took off as soon as the suspect saw him. Officials said nothing was stolen.

The suspect is described as a skinny white male, wearing a dark coat with white trim around the collar and front and dark pants.

Deputies said the suspect got into a red two-door Chevrolet Cavalier driven by a white woman with short dark hair. Officials said a bearded white male was also in the car.
