TURLOCK, Calif. — A California woman who was fired and reported to the Secret Service for a racial slur she posted about President Barack Obama on Facebook says she is not a racist.

FOX40 reported that 22-year-old Denise Helms of Turlock posted “Another 4 years of this [N-word.] Maybe he will get assassinated this term,” to her Facebook page shortly after Obama’s reelection.

Helms told Fox 40 that her profile had been set to private. Her mother said one of her ex-boyfriends re-posted a screen shot of the post to Twitter, where it spread quickly online.

Helms initially told a Sacramento TV station that she wouldn’t mind a bit if someone assassinated Obama.

Helms was fired Thursday from her job at the Cold Stone Creamery store. Store director Chris Kegle says the comments are disgusting.

Secret Service Agent Scott Gillingham in Sacramento says the incident is being investigated.

Threats against the president can lead to felony charges. Helms says she has received several threats against her since the incident.
