Pat McCrory visiting Raleigh as next governor
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Pat McCrory is visiting Raleigh for the first time since being elected North Carolina’s governor to meet with the current governor and unveil the group that will get his administration organized by January.
McCrory and Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue were scheduled to meet Thursday morning before McCrory held a news conference to introduce the leaders of his transition team. The former Charlotte mayor defeated Democrat Walter Dalton on Tuesday and will become the first Republican governor in 20 years. Perdue defeated McCrory four years ago.
McCrory told reporters Wednesday he’s got little time to organize because of the upcoming holidays. He said he also feels a sense of urgency to get working. He takes the oath of office in January.
