Asheville police arrest man for shooting woman on bus

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Police in Asheville have arrested a man they say boarded a Greyhound bus and shot and wounded a former girlfriend.

Police say the man got on a bus at the station around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday and shot her.

There was no immediate word on her injuries. She is being treated at Mission Hospital

Lt. Wally Welch says the man tried to get into a cab after the shooting but the driver refused. Welch says the man fired at the cab driver, who was no hurt.

Police arrested 32-year-old Patrick Holliday and charged him with two counts of attempted murder, possession of a gun by a felon, assault on a police officer and firing a gun into an occupied vehicle.

It was not clear if he has an attorney.
