Race for Lt. Governor still “too close to call”

Coleman Forest

The candidates for Lieutenant Governor are still locked in a tight race, almost 18 hours after the polls closed.

Each candidate received 50 percent of the vote. However, less than 11,400 votes separate the two.

If elected, Forest would be the second Republican Lt. Governor in recent history and the first to serve with a republican governor.

Forest declared victory on Tuesday night, but Coleman has yet to concede.

The Coleman camp prepares ready for a recount.

As of 1:30 p.m., here are the results:

Linda D. Coleman (DEM)   2,181,646 49.87%
Dan Forest (REP)   2,193,016 50.13%
