Bernita Sims elected mayor in High Point
HIGH POINT, N.C. — Bernita Sims was elected High Point’s mayor on Tuesday.
Sims, a long-time city council member, was running against Coy Williard, Christ Whitley, Matthew Fowler Sr. and Tammy Holyfield.
Sims took 32% of the vote.
Becky Smothers, the city’s current mayor, did not seek re-election but did win a seat on the city council.
