Surry County man killed in wreck identified
SURRY COUNTY, N.C. — Officials said the Surry County man who died after winds caused a tree to collapse in front of his vehicle Monday night has been identified.
Authorities said Jody Alan Davis, 25, of Mount Airy, was driving a 1989 Ford Ranger on Prison Camp Road near Dobson around 7 p.m. when he struck an oak tree.
Detours were set up around the area as crews were called in to repair power lines that were knocked down by the tree.
Davis was on his way home from work when he wrecked.
Doctors were not able to save Davis, but he was an organ donor. His eyes, heart, and other organs and tissues have been donated.
Joey Tucker, a family friend, says Davis was like a son to him.
“We don’t ask why. It’s not for our positioning to do that,” said Tucker, “But when I said my prayers last night I said ‘Lord thank you for the three years that I had fellowship with him… what a great thing it was.”
