Pedestrian dies in Winston-Salem accident
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A pedestrian died Tuesday in an accident in Winston-Salem.
Officers responded around 7 a.m. to an accident involving a pedestrian in the 1400 block of Stratford Road.
Police said Bobby Leonard Wilson, 53, of 3331 Old Vineyard Road, was attempting to cross Stratford Road just south of Healy Drive when he was struck by a vehicle.
Wilson died due to injuries sustained in the accident. His family has been notified, police said.
The Winston-Salem Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit has assumed the investigation. Police did not say if charges will be filed against the driver.
Wilson’s death marks the 20th motor vehicle fatality of 2012 in Winston-Salem.
