Fifth arrest made in connection with deadly shooting in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police say a fifth suspect has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at a local apartment complex that stemmed from a dispute over drugs.

On Tuesday, police arrested Andre Cartel Harper, 19,  in connection with the fatal shooting that took place at the Heritage House on Oct. 15.

According to police, Alkhaafid Nariz Shumate, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers found his body on an upper level floor of the apartment complex.

Previously, police arrested Donna Denise Tyson, 30, Linda Renée Tyson, 30, Paris Pierre Coleman, 24, and Frederick Walls, Jr., 32 in connection with the shooting.

All five of the suspects have been charged with first degree murder and are being held in the Greensboro Jail without bond.
